NATIVE INSTINCT: WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE THE SENTRY MK4 SCREENING SYSTEM

For Schools:

The CDC’s recently published guidance strongly advises schools to conduct temperature screenings for all staff members and students each morning before class. Imagine the issues involved with trying to screen hundreds – or thousands – of students between the time they arrive on campus and when the first bell rings for class. Imagine the long lines and “student traffic jams” associated with traditional screening methods. After years of research and development, Native Instinct developed a solution: The Sentry MK4 Mass Thermal Screening System.

The Sentry MK4 conducts a mass screening of everyone who enters your school in a fraction of the time. The system does this by scanning the skin emissivity of large groups as they casually walk through the screening area. With the Sentry system, there is no need for stop-and-go queues, long lines, wait times, or dozens of personnel dedicated to screening your students and staff each morning.

For Airports:

Air travel often requires passengers and crew members to be confined in close-quarters for hours at a time; a situation known to accelerate the spread of viruses. For this reason, the screening of incoming and outgoing passengers for febrile temperature conditions has been in practice for over a decade in Asia and the Middle East. Airports considering thermal screening systems need to consider key factors, including: system accuracy, screening throughput, maneuverability, and ease of use/training.

The Sentry MK4 system has been successfully deployed in airports around the world and is currently used at security checkpoints for both international arrivals and departures. The Sentry system is perfect for quickly scanning passengers and crew en masse as they simply walk through the screening area.

For Hospitals:

With hospitals conducting full temperature screenings at every entrance, having the ability to accurately screen patients and staff en masse has become a critical task for healthcare facilities across the country. Minimizing patient wait times, long lines, and large crowds gathering in waiting areas has become a challenge for many hospital personnel.

In most cases, our clients were previously using teams of nurses or security staff with individual thermometers to conduct manual screenings of everyone who entered their facility. At an average hospital, this meant a staff of nearly 40 full-time screeners were being deployed with handheld thermometers at every entrance.

The backlog of patients and staff waiting to enter the hospital could reach hundreds of yards in length. These facilities began using the Sentry system to quickly conduct a triage/first-stage screening of all personnel who entered and followed-up on potential febrile subjects with FDA-approved thermometers to confirm/deny fevers. This first-stage of screening increased throughput, improved staff and patient morale, and greatly reduced the labor load for screeners.

To date, we’ve installed dozens of Sentry MK4 Mass Thermal Screening Systems at Federal Hospitals across the country, and the feedback has been amazing.

Why the Sentry MK4?

Reliability & Experience:

The Sentry system has been developed from the ground-up to conduct one task: mass thermal screening. From its custom-built hardware and convenient mobile cart, to its custom software/firmware, the Sentry does not rely on integrating unreliable, “off the shelf” components.

For over a decade, Sentry systems have been deployed in commercial environments including airports, major metro transit stations, schools, offices, and hospitals in disease-stricken areas in Asia and the Middle East. The Sentry system has been in development and production since 2003 and is NOT a “fad” technology born from the recent pandemic. With millions of run-time hours logged in numerous commercial environments, the Sentry MK4 has the track record to serve as the leading solution for mass thermal screening.

Accuracy:

The Sentry MK4 is the most accurate thermal screening system on the market; designed to maintain a +/- 0.1*C accuracy. This is made possible thanks to its dynamic Thermal Reference Source (TRS), which continuously analyzes the surrounding ambient environment and calibrates for any changes.

Throughput:

With the Sentry MK4, there is no need for long lines, tape on the floor showing where to stand, or false readings due to uncooperative subjects. The Sentry quickly conducts a mass thermal screening of personnel as they simply walk through the scanning area. This high level of throughput allows your facility to conduct efficient screenings without long lines or any interruptions to daily operations.

Additionally, the Sentry MK4 is a force-multiplier. Most facilities have 4-6 screening staff members at their main entrances. The Sentry MK4 allows for a screening team of only 2-3 members – significantly reducing the labor burden.

Persistent Scanning:

The Sentry MK4 Mass Thermal Screening System also conducts “persistent scanning”. Persistent scanning is a secondary scan for personnel who have already been screened and cleared to enter a facility. Persistent scanning is useful because it helps:

  • Detect potential developing cases (personnel who only showed signs of sickness after initial clearance)

  • Detect attempts by personnel to conceal a fever after initial entry. For schools, this is a particular concern because some parents will give their kids Tylenol in the morning just so they can drop their kids off and get to work, even if only for a half day. For other facilities, this is important because some employees, visitors, or staff will take ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc. to mask a fever in order to get into the facility for work, convenience, etc.

  • Protect highly vulnerable areas of the facility (in hospitals, this could include intensive care units, elderly facilities within a hospital, community living centers (CLC’s) in VA Hospitals, etc.)
